The way you’re living your life right now is what you have given to yourself. It was a dream years ago; a dream in the sense of what you would become. And if you have become someone, it may not be the person you wished to be, but you have still become someone. Time, as an asset, has been invested, and the current you is the outcome. We must ask ourselves, have we tried our best to be our best selves? If not, we cannot point fingers at anything outside of ourselves. Most of us blame our family, society, or the country. That, I believe, is the problem.
This writing is entirely based on my own experiences. I’ve seen people complain about the country and the system for not achieving their dream lives. But does it depend on who we elect as a prime minister, or does it depend entirely on what we can make with the resources we already have the mind and the decisions? There are plenty of ways to become what we want to be. There’s also the question: have we ever stood in another’s shoes and truly lived in their world? The answer lies there, loud and clear.
I then answer them back: we ourselves are the society and the country, and there’s no point in blaming anything or anyone. We have not invested in ourselves to become the best versions of ourselves. There are plenty of things this system provides us. Have we exploited all those freedoms? I don’t think so. Because we, as citizens, choose our leaders. If we are smart enough to choose the best, the system will be great. So, it starts with you as an individual.
For instance, if a village needs a hospital, we rely on the government for that. But what if the locals used the resources they already have (I see tourism as an example) to get employed? They could raise the money and build it themselves. It might be one way of thinking, but instead of complaining all the time, we can shift our perspective toward the development of both our personal lives and the nation. I believe it all starts with us.
